Collection

Although I have been making jewelry for about 7 years, I never thought about or used the word collection to describe or organize my work until 2021. I did work on series before, but this year I began intentionally designing a collection with my Visible Attachments concept. I moved beyond the process of making one item at a time and into the idea of a collection that embodies a story in the different pieces. The materials, shapes, color and texture were developed with a theme to express the story. The River Pearl ring was the central piece using a dark cradle to tenderly hold a seemingly fragile pearl with gold prongs highlighting the importance of holding tight during difficult times. The Virgil earrings and necklace emphasized the human shape and connection to a crystal or pearl symbolizing all that is precious. The visible hoops and keshi pearl ring are joyful representations of my collection’s shapes and colors. Several pearl brooches also contain the elements discussed. I am currently completing a statement bracelet and necklace to continue the story. I am sharing the work in progress, so stay tuned for more completed Visible Attachment.

Work in progress on new Visible Attachments pieces. The brass form is a prototype and I’ve cut out the shapes in silver. Stay tuned for what happens!
