Collection Stories

  • Crinkled Spiral

The 2024 Crinkled Spiral Collection celebrates the third anniversary of Lori Aks Jewelry.

The Crinkled Spiral motif is a symbol for personal growth and discovery. I keep coming back to the crinkled texture in my pieces and I think it adds depth and dimension visually and shows that the process of self discovery is full of twists and turns.

Designed to coordinate with all the collections, the crinkled spiral pieces incorporate both hand fabricated and wax carved elements as I explore various modalities to achieve textured, crinkled spiraling form.

  • Renew

The Renew Charms bring focus to the power of looking within for renewal and change.

The charms were created from recycled sterling silver with 24K gold highlights and natural gemstones. To make the pebble-like shapes I recycled bits of silver collected in the studio and melted them into molten balls. Then the hammering and forming took shape. Patina and crosshatched engraving added personality to each charm along with flush and bezel set salt and pepper diamonds, black diamonds, tourmaline, morganite and jade gemstones.

The renewal of materials to create art felt transformational and uplifting. This process inspired a sense of wonder about our potential to begin again and reconsider what is around us. I hope to inspire a feeling of renewal and beauty in the nearly discarded.

  • Secure Attachment

The Secure Attachment collection has five shapes intended to link together or stand on their own to represent the power of secure bonds to create beauty, peace and tranquility.

This collection is a successor to the Visible Attachment collection which emphasized the use of prongs to express connections that were visible to the eye.

The pieces in this collection explore relational connections by the use of connected shapes with links to express the endurance of secure attachment. Created in 2022.

  • Visible Attachment

This collection explores emotional connections by focusing on the attachment bond. Using prongs as a symbol for the power of hands to hold precious objects and oxidized silver or negative space indicating the human form with curves.

The pieces explore relational connections and celebrate our relationships. This collection consists of hand fabricated one of a kind pieces I created during the pandemic in 2021 in an effort to express the yearning for personal connection during a period of isolation. I was glad to have jewelry making to keep my hands busy during that time, but missed my family who was far away and I see now how much the art jewelry expressed the desire to hold them again.

  • Organic Form

The organic forms are filled with texture and movement that find the place between sculpture and jewelry.

Four forms comprise the Organic Form Collection. The Signature form is the largest, the Crumpled form is the next in size, the Squiggle form and finally the Petite form.

Each form has its own character and personality. These mini sculptures capture the patterns all around us connecting nature and human form. They connect with each other or stones and metals to create a family of art jewelry.

  • Essential

The essential collection is the core of the curving modern aesthetic that defines Lori Aks Jewelry. I’ve curated popular pieces from all the collections here to get you started.

These essential pieces take advantage of negative space and form to create art jewelry that can easily layer with all the collections here and your current jewelry collection.
