Crinkled

Why do I love crinkled texture? It’s really really fun to put metal into the tube extruder and out comes a squiggly, crinkled shape that is endlessly versatile in my curving art jewelry creations. Depending upon the thickness of the metal, it may come out looking corrugated, curly or jagged. The crinkled texture may end up on the edges of a design or it may form the circling center. To me the texture always looks like a path to follow and I enjoy that symbolism in my Art Jewelry designs.

What is a tube extruder? It is a mechanical device used by painters to squeeze out every last drop of paint.

I have adapted this simple device to create rings, necklaces and earrings. Below I’ve created a gallery of pieces that used the crinkled texture from the tube extruder and I’ve added a video in the studio crinkling some wire with the tube extruder.
