Pearlsonality

In May I attended a gem show in New Jersey and was so lucky to find some gorgeous pearls. For the past few months I have been playing with pearls and metal to create a collection of modern, connected pieces that can update a simple strand you may have languishing in your jewelry box. Today I will talk about the pearl earrings, but you can find necklaces, rings and brooches with pearls in the collection. I encourage you to explore your pearl personality by looking at all the pearl jewelry on my website here

Below are photos of earrings from the collection. Each pair was hand made in my studio with a unique personality. The pearls have their own fingerprint that is contrasted with textured, curving metal work. Here are my thoughts about each pair…

Organic Form with Coin Pearls are strongly textured posts that remind me of little ghosts or mountains that hug your ear and coin pearls that sway gently as you move. The black and white contrast is an edgy color combo that goes with everything.

The Crinkled Border Posts with Baroque Pearls have 24K gold heat applied to oxidized silver and the teardrop shaped pearls sway from the posts that hug the ear and look a bit like golden pie crusts with a dollop of whipped cream. I like to think of these earrings as having a large dose of elegant whimsy. They also won a second place ribbon for metalsmith jewelry at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair this month!

Oxidized Silver Crinkled Spiral with Baroque Pearls are my personality match with their everyday luxe vibe. I vote these most likely to make me cry when they sell out!

The 14K gold Crinkled Spiral version are for the gold and pearl lover and I must say, they are the most asked about pair. When I’ve worn this pair I get a lot of compliments and it does feel very nice.

The Coin Pearl Open Form Earrings are a little more bohemian and so very lightweight. The open curving shapes hint at a human presence grounded by the roundness of the coin pearls. These are vey fun to wear and also get a lot of compliments.

The Crinkled Spiral with Stick Pearls have a quirky mushroom appearance gently swaying from the twisty crinkled spirals that hug the earlobe.
