Surfboard

Why a surfboard collection? I acquired an assortment of surfboard shaped turquoise stones and that’s where it started. I explored bezel setting and attachments to necklaces in a series of experiments. Altering the shape of the bezel in the Crinkled Surfboard Necklace was new and interesting and became the jumping off point for the crinkled earrings and an extension of my experiments in the wavy bar collection. Hanging straight down, the surfboards felt like a good luck charm or talisman of good energy. I took the infinity design and added mixed metals. Then I tried the sideways versions and these seemed like a wonderful update on the popular bar necklace, but with colorful turquoise. I had a lot of fun making this collection. Bezel setting is meditative with the series of processes to create a well fitting and polished home for a beautiful stone. I hope the wearer will feel the enjoyment I had making them and by making a collection they seemed like a family. Each one has its own personality, but together form a collection family.
