Renew

To those who celebrate I wish you a Happy New Year. Rosh Hashana is the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays emphasizing the renewal of spirit. I’ve named a new collection the Renew Charms in time for the start of the Jewish year and to emphasize the power of looking within for renewal and change.

The Renew charms are handmade from recycled sterling silver, 24K gold foil heat applied and natural gemstones. The charms range from small to large pebble shapes. I’ve used patina, hammering and crosshatched engraving to add personality to each charm.

To make these charms I melted down silver scrap I’ve collected into molten balls and then the hammering began. The renewal of materials to create art feels like an important message about transformation. I hope to inspire a sense of wonder about our potential to begin again and reconsider what is around us.

The charms are coming with me along with pieces from the collections at Arts and Cars on Sunday, September 17th in downtown Summit NJ from 10am-4pm.

Considering my deep thoughts about this little charm collection, I thought it was fitting to bring attention to September as National Suicide Prevention Month. 25% of sales from this collection will benefit comunity mental health with a donation to the National Alliance for Mental Illness. I also hope the charms themselves will inspire a feeling of renewal and finding beauty in the nearly discarded. Add a charm to jewelry you already own or any of my pieces to carry the feeling of stregnth in renewal through your days.

Come see them in person at Arts and Cars on Sunday September 17th, 2023 in downtown Summit NJ.
